Le Tour
Le Tour marks the upper end of the Chamonix valley, and it is here that the Le Tour Mountain Lodge is based. A tiny village typical of the Haute-Savoie, it is dominated by the Le Tour glacier, famous for its unbelievable blue colour in the moonlight. It is also overlooked by the slopes of the Col de Balme and is right by the Swiss border. The slopes are served by a series of lifts accessing well-maintained intermediate and beginner pistes. In total there are 11 blue runs, 8 red and 1 black. Make sure you check out the new bubble lift for forest routes down to Vallorcine.
The Vormaine beginner slopes are at the base of Le Tour area, and in the garden of our Le Tour Mountain Lodge. Behind the Boardnlodge High Mountain Lodge are the Vormaine nursery slopes. The three beginner runs are perfect for those taking ski or snownboard lessons, and those wanting somewhere mellow to find their feet again after the summer months. If you are partial to a little sledging, the Vormaine is a good place to start. These pistes lead directly to the chalet front door, which is ideal for lunch stops, and those who want to be first in the shower. A fast moving gondola takes intermediates over the heads of the beginners to the main ski area. The Le Tour system is comprised of a front-side and backside. On the front face, with views of the whole valley below, eight blue pistes, and seven steeper red pistes are perfectly suited to for the intermediate rider. The backside is very popular with our guests as you can ride a long long piste through the trees to the little village of Vallorcine (valley of the bears) where there is a secret stop for a picnic lunch or wait until you get to the bottom and the restaurant in the train station which our guests the Holmes brothers and their crew swear by.
